BIOHAZARD Singer Addresses Health Rumors
February 17, 2003BIOHAZARD frontman Evan Seinfeld, an actor on the HBO program "Oz", says that he is suffering from an undiagnosed health problem. However, despite rumors floating around about Seinfeld being stricken with a brain tumor, he says that his illness is not life-threatening.
"We're closer to figuring out what it is," Seinfeld revealed. "I don't have HIV, I don't have AIDS, I don't have a brain tumor, I don't have cancer. These are things we all know, so to dispel any rumors about me being terminally ill and all that. They know exactly what it's not, and they've narrowed it down. They ruled out anything life-threatening at this point."
"Before we were set out to do this KITTIE tour [Editor's note: BIOHAZARD cancelled their participation in the tour due to Evan's health problems], which I really didn't want to do anyway, I had been having these migraine headaches, and I had to go see about 40 doctors and get checked out from top to bottom because, you know, it was causing me a lot of anxiety," Seinfeld added. "It was like a headache that was bad enough...It was paralyzing. I don't know if you've ever had the kind of headache that makes you like you have to stop everything you're doing and just lay down and want to scream, cry, and punch the wall. Where your best bet would be to take a whole bunch of pills and pass out because you can't even sit up anymore."
Evan said he's getting help. "I have this great doctor, Dr. Lugo, in New York City and he's the best of the best. He's a surgeon and he's checked me out from top to bottom and he's found a couple of things that are leading up to the cause of these headaches. You know, we've got it under control right now."
Of the tour cancellations, he said, "As soon as you cancel a tour people think something's wrong. In 16 years we never cancelled a tour. Most bands come out in a cushy tour bus and cancel a tour on the first album, you know? We never cancelled a tour, but it really wasn't a good time for me to be out. I needed to take care of my health. You know what? I was going to do the tour and [fiancée and former adult entertainer] Tera [Patrick] put her foot down and said, 'You know what? If you go on tour I'm not going to go with you. You go by yourself. You need to see doctors.' Thank God I have a strong woman behind me."
BIOHAZARD's new album, "Kill Or Be Killed", is due in the U.S. on March 18 through Sanctuary Records. The band kick off a mini-tour with HATEBREED on Feb. 20 at Sportsplus in Long Island.
